About the Artist Artist Statement Contact Information

Linda Trappey Dautreuil grew up in New Iberia, and lived in southwest Louisiana for most of her life. She began making paintings in the 1970's while pursuing a Masters Degree in creative writing. The direct application of paint on canvas and the daily process of drawing proved to be mediums best suited for her ideas. In 1984 she completed her studies in Visual Arts, University of Louisiana, Lafayette, and in 1996, moved her studio to Covington. She was awarded a Visual Arts Fellowship from the Louisiana State Arts Council, 1998, and the President's Award for Visual Arts, St. Tammany Parish, 2004. Her work is in the permanent collections of the New Orleans Museum of Art, the New Orleans Public Art Collection, the Hilliard University Art Museum, Lafayette, and the St. Tammany Public Art Collection.
